HOW DO I OVERCOME EMETOPHOBIA & ANXIETY?

FAQs

  • I hear you! I had that same thought as did many others. The truth of the matter is that since “control” is the issue at large, every thought you have will take us back to the elements in the program. If you stick to the work and let go of that old way of thinking, you will overcome emetophobia/anxiety.

  • YES! Most of those flavors of thinking simply go back to how you think. Some of us (fellow ADHD/Dyslexic here) simply are wired to think and learn in a certain way, BUT emetophobia is nothing more than learned behavior. It is not something that we are born with. Therefore, you will learn to unlearn it.

  • I have done therapy myself, and from my experience, most therapists don’t even know what emetophobia is. Rightfully so, it’s a phobia not mentioned in most studies and education. Thankfully, I coach an emetophobia specific program that was created with science & research; working WITH the mind, not against it. Therapy doesn't help you improve some elements that were found to be important to overcome emetophobia. With those missing elements, then emetophobia stays.

  • NO!!! Exposure is not necessary whatsoever. What we will do is have you challenge yourself in other ways you find a tiny bit scary. Such as sitting in the car or driving to the parking lot of a grocery store. It’s all going to depend on you and your story. The point of this is to change the narrative about how you process and experience events in your life. This is how the rewiring of your mind takes place.
